Respect - Connect - Challenge

These are 3 important vision words at Forrest Hill this year. Today we explored what these words meant to us. We shared our ideas with a buddy, swapping 3 times to talk and listen with 3 different people.  As a class we decided on the following ways that we show respect, connect and challenge when we are at school.

Respect

  • If you borrow stationary that belongs to someone else, look after it and don't break or damage it.
  • Treat others how you want to be treated.
  • Use good manners.
  • Being kind - no put downs.
  • Listen to others.
  • Look after our environment and property so we can all enjoy it.
Connect

  • Communicate - many different ways:  talking,  listening, emails, texts, blogs, telephone, mobiles, video, photo's,  dancing, acting, pieces of art.
  • Collaboration - this is more than cooperation, everyone needs to be actively involved.
  • Connecting ideas.
  • Making friends.
  • Working together to help each other learn in the best way we can.
  • Share ideas and accept others ideas.
Challenge
  • Personal Challenges - when nervous, worried, upset - work through these challenges.
  • Make new friends.
  • Take on new learning - we know it wont be easy so accept the challenge.
  • Overcoming fears and the things you think you cant do.
  • Taking risks to push yourself.
  • Talking to others to cooperate and collaborate.
  • Taking on leadership.

Walking on the stilts was a Challenge! We had to work together and hep each other by holding the stilts and balancing while our buddies got on.  We then "spotted" each other in case we fell off.  Brilliant team work!
