Tangrams

Tangrams are an ancient Chinese puzzle. There are 7 shapes that can be arranged to show pictures. We watch the following video.

And then rearranged the shapes to make the pictures:http://britton.disted.camosun.bc.ca/tangram.swf

Next Step: We had a copy of the tangram pieces each and used these pieces to practice making the 3 pigs black shapes.  Once we had made a shape, we drew it in our math mental books, showing the pieces we used. The hard part was using all 7 pieces in each picture!

We were working on our chrome books but also collaborating with others. Once we had made a shape, we put our names and the shape number on the white board - then took turns sharing on the big screen the solutions.

We certainly did enjoy exploring this Ancient Chinese Puzzle!
